In a press conference today, Madison Police Chief Shon Barnes shared that the victim of yesterday afternoon’s homicide on the east side was in his 20s. The medical examiner will release more details soon.
This incident occurred at the Harmony at Grandview Common Apartments at Milwaukee Street and Milky Way just after 3pm.
Barnes also shared that:
- Over 60 shell casings were recovered in this incident (of different calibers)
- Bystanders rendered aid to the shooting victim before police arrived and took over
- This is the 8th homicide in Madison in 2023
Multiple buildings and vehicles were hit during this incident and Chief Barnes stated, it was “truly, truly a blessing that no one else was hurt in this incident.”
He also encouraged the public to call 911 when they see conflict occurring.
