Tis the Season for Car Thefts

Now that the cold weather has arrived, vehicle thefts are ramping up in the Madison area as more people leave unattended vehicles idling. ???????? ????????????????????????????????????????????????, ???? ???????????????????????????????? ???????????????????????????? ???? ???????????????????????????? ???????????????????????? ???????? ???? ???????????????????????????????????????????? ???????????????????? ???????????????????????????? ???????????? ???????? ????????????????????????????. ???????????? ???????????????????????? ???????????? ???????????????? ???????????????? ???????????? ???????????????????? ???????????? ???? ???????????????????? ???????????????????????? ???????? ???????????? ???????????????????????????????? ???????????????????????? ????????????????????????. Once the suspect realized someone was in the vehicle, he took off. Madison Police were unable to find the suspect.

Here are a couple of other incidents from the Thanksgiving weekend that involved stolen vehicles in Madison:

11/22 Midtown District: A vehicle was reported stolen from a residence. The vehicle was left running, unlocked and unoccupied. Vehicle later located/recovered and returned to its registered owner.

11/22 Central District: A traffic stop was conducted on a stolen vehicle. A 32-year-old male subject/driver was arrested for operating a motor vehicle without consent.

11/22 North District: A traffic stop was conducted on a stolen vehicle. A 53-year-old male subject was arrested for operating a motor vehicle without consent and bail jumping. Additional charges may be forthcoming as stolen property was in the vehicle.

11/23: Midtown District: A vehicle was reported as stolen. The vehicle was left running, unlocked and unoccupied. Attempt to locate aired. The vehicle was listed as stolen in the appropriate databases. Vehicle located/recovered and returned to its owner.

11/27: An officer located an occupied stolen vehicle and made contact with the 27-year-old male subject/occupant. The subject was arrested for operating a motor vehicle without consent and possession of meth. Vehicle recovered/towed.

And while we’re on the subject of vehicles, please don’t drink and drive this holiday season!

11/22 West Crash (1:53pm): Witnesses observed a 44-year-old male driver driving aggressively, hitting a curb, hitting a tree and a utility box ???????????????? ???????????????????????????????????? ???????????????????????????? (???????????????????????????? ???????????? ???????????????????????????? ????????????????????????????) ???????????????? ???????????????????????????? ???????????????????????????????? ???????????? ???????????? ???????????????????????????? ???????????????????????????????????? ???????????????????????????????? ???? ????????????????. Officers located the subject who was sitting next to his vehicle with a beer next to him. The subject denied that he was driving and refused field sobriety tests. The subject was conveyed to a local hospital and provided a felony order-in for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence (5th offense). The subject was also cited for operating after revocation and hit-and-run.
