Madison Spring Election Guide: District 19

by Safety Connection

You can impact public safety decisions in Madison with your vote in the Tuesday April 4th spring election in Madison!

Your District 19 candidates are John Guequierre and Kristen Slack.

Our Pick: Kristen Slack

While neither candidate says much about public safety in their platforms, especially when it comes to policing, Kristen Slack appears to place a higher priority on government transparency and accountability and is endorsed by current and past leaders who value public safety, including police officers.

John Guequierre is endorsed by previous alder Keith Furman and also Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway, both antagonistic to police, and he will likely march in lockstep with Progressive Dane’s priorities for the city, including rapidly expanding maximum-density urban infill which benefits realtors and developers and decreases ownership options. He is also heavily endorsed by realtors, and on his website he mentions “attacking” zoning codes. A vote for John Guequierre appears to be a vote for more of the same.

If you want representation of your concerns and your district’s needs, more community engagement, transparent processes, and government accountability, vote for Kristen Slack.
