Notable Madison Police Calls: 1/26-1/27

Someone stole an auto from the West Towne Mall parking lot, a suspect robbed a UW Credit Union and Madison Police recovered shell casings after multiple people reported shots fired in the North District. These were just a few of the 345 calls Madison Police responded to between 6am yesterday (Thurs 1/26) and 6am this morning (Fri 1/27).

Thursday January 26

WEST: Disturbance – 7:30 am. Officers responded to a residence where the 27-year-old male suspect pushed and punched a care taker. The suspect was arrested and charged with battery.

NORTH: Robbery – 9:56 am. The unidentified suspect walked into the UW Credit Union and handed the teller a note demanding money. The suspect left the bank with cash and remains at large. Investigation continuing.

SOUTH: Death Investigation – 12:07 pm. A co-worker discovered the 68-year-old subject deceased at his desk. Nothing suspicious on scene.

CENTRAL: Check Person/Conveyance – 12:54 pm. Officers responded to a residence where a subject was causing a disturbance. Officers made contact with the subject, placed him into protective custody and conveyed him to a hospital. Journey Mental Health requested an emergency detention.

EAST: OMVWI – 2:32 pm. Officers responded to the 3700 block of Lexington Ave where the 36-year-old male suspect was unresponsive in his vehicle. The suspect was arrested and charged with OWI 3rd offense and operating while revoked.

MIDTOWN: Weapons Offense – 3:07 pm. Officers made contact with a subject who arrived at a local hospital with a stab wound. Investigation continuing.

EAST: Disorderly Conduct/Stalking Complaint – 4:59 pm. Officers responded to East Towne Mall where the 39-year-old male suspect became aggressive towards mall security. The suspect has been stalking several mall employees. Officers developed probable cause to arrest the suspect for disorderly conduct. The suspect was issued stalking warning letters.

MIDTOWN: Threats Complaint – 8:05 pm. MPD received a tip related to school safety. The MMSD security director was notified.

WEST: Stolen Auto – 9:05 pm. The victim reported he left his car parked at West Towne Mall unlocked with the key in the ignition. When he came back, his car was gone. The vehicle was listed as stolen and an ATL was aired.

Friday January 27

CENTRAL: Weapons Offense – 2:28 am. Officers investigated a report of a driver displaying a handgun to another driver. Both parties, a 23-year-old male and 29-year-old female, were cited for disorderly conduct.

NORTH: Weapons Offense Shots Fired – 4:06 am. Dispatch received multiple reports of shots being fired in the area of Brentwood Pkwy and Wyldewood Dr. Officers searched the area and located fired shell casings but no evidence or reports of injured persons or damaged property.

MIDTOWN: Check Property – 4:21 am. Officers responded to the UPS store where an unidentified suspect spray painted graffiti and damaged glass. Investigation continuing.
