UPDATE 2-22-23: Amani Latimer Burris and Julia Matthews advanced to the general election that will take place on Tuesday, April 4.
District 12 Candidates:

Madison Area Safety Connection recommends Amani Latimer Burris for District 12. Amani is a skilled collaborator and will bring all voices to the table to make Madison a City where all can thrive. Concerned about our current level of gun violence, Amani will prioritize healthy police-community partnerships and wants police officers reintegrated back into the neighborhood. Amani values diversity, but focuses on coming together in unity to get things done.
The worst choice would be Julia Matthews because she is endorsed by the Progressive Dane PAC and will therefore have a city-wide agenda instead of a district-oriented mindset. She will be held accountable for every vote by this political action committee which has endorsed her, as evidenced by this statement on their website, among other things: “We make no apologies for expecting endorsed candidates to remain accountable to their campaign promises and to our progressive program. They are recruited to work with each other and Progressive Dane on a regular basis.”
