Madison Shots Fired Incidents Increase 87%

First quarter shots fired statistics are out from the Madison Police Department and between January and March there was an 87% increase in shots fired incidents compared to Jan-March 2020. Keep in mind two of those months in last year’s first quarter were pre-pandemic.

  • Madison has seen 58 confirmed shots fired incidents from January through March 2021
  • Police have recovered 124 shell casings
  • Nine (9) people have been struck by gunfire
  • Fifteen (15) of the incidents involved bullets hitting vehicles or buildings

MPD also reported that so far more shell casings are being recovered per incident compared to last year.
